Founder, Magdy Amer, began his love affair for his country, Egypt, as a young child. His playground was the "rocks" of the ancient antiquities. His Father, as "Chief Engineer of Surveying", with the Egyptian Government, had the job of mapping the Egyptian countryside. This gave Mr. Amer the opportunity to travel with his father and see the many ancient sights dotted across Egypt.
As he grew, so did his interest in Egyptology. In 1961 he attended the University of Cairo, majoring in History and Archeology. In a radical change of direction he decided to immigrate west, ending in Toronto, Canada. After receiving an associate degree in Medical Technology, he again changed directions and immigrated to the USA, receiving a bachelor's degree in Architecture Engineering at Ohio State University. He finished his graduate studies at the Oriental Institute of Egyptology at the University of Chicago.
In the course of the years he began arranging and taking, by request, groups of people to tour Egypt. In 1981 he opened the Cairo office of Egypt National Tours, launching a life dream that is going strong to this day. Through the years he has lead and arranged countless study groups from numerous universities including a performance tour of the Ohio Ballet Met (covered by USA media), the USA Karate Championships, and a tour for the Shriners of Ohio. These are just a few of the large groups that have traveled with Egypt National Tours. Mr. Amer still leads groups by private request with his impressive expert knowledge in the many areas of Egyptology, and the culture of Egypt.
